Here is a definition that could be included into our introduction. I have noticed that many school districts have been using this definition in their BYOD policy. It originated from Alberta Education's Policy. It is located in the Alberta policy before the page numbers begin, so instead of putting the page # in the in-text citation, I put "preface." I haven't found any rules in APA about this, so if there is an expert in APA, they can correct this. Here is the direct quotation definition with the reference. “Bring your own device (BYOD) refers to technology models where students bring a personally owned device to school for the purpose of learning. A personally owned device is an technology device brought into the school and owned by a student (or the student’s family), staff or guests” (Alberta Education, 2012, preface)
